 We are seeking a auditor for a client located in Downtown Albany. This is a long term full time position. 

The successful candidate will assist with a variety of activities including:

  • auditing forms and reports for accurate and complete documentation
  • professionally answering and routing calls
  • organizing and maintaining electronic and paper files in State database systems
  • creating meeting notices with internal and external attendees
  • assisting center staff seeking general administrative assistance
  • quality review of letters, reports, and website pages prior to publication
  • updating information in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel tracking documents
  • reviewing emails received in centralized mailboxes; responding or rerouting as appropriate
  • assist with training of new team members on established program processes and procedures
  • assist with recruitments in contacting candidates and scheduling interviews for various positions through WebEx and Microsoft Teams

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • experience working with spreadsheets, tables, or similar report documentation
  • demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel
  • navigation of multi-line phone systems
  • proficient at managing deadlines and program timelines
  • familiar with working with confidential documents containing sensitive data

The preferred qualifications include:

Position Summary

The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure they meet clients quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements. General Duties

  • Carefully analyze the factual bases of consumer complaints about utility service and apply the appropriate law or regulation to investigate the complaint.
  • Provide information and answer questions, review and analyze company records, and respond to customer complaints and inquiries both verbally and in writing.
  • Direct a service provider to or request a customer provide relevant information about the dispute to perfect the case record.
  • Direct a service provider to conduct a premise inspection or meter test to determine the adequacy of service and/or accuracy of billing.
  • Record and gather complaint and workload information and assist in preparing reports.
  • Instruct the service provider to take action to remedy and resolve the dispute.
  • These tasks require personnel with the ability to develop some specialized knowledge of the Public Service Law and Regulations through research and training.

Needed to be successful:

  • Prior experience and/or training as a legal secretary, paralegal or investigator or experience resolving disputes would be beneficial.
  • Personnel must have the ability to conduct factual investigation of customer service and consumer protection complaints.
  • Higher level oral and written communication and analytical skills are required to investigate and resolve consumer disputes about their utility service. The selected candidate must understand how to gather the relevant facts from the customer and utility and then apply the law, regulation and/or Commission Order to the facts presented, and then make a decision on the complaint.
  • Careful attention to deadlines designed to protect consumers.
  • High School Diploma.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience investigating consumer protection or customer service complaints in alegal or quasi-legal setting.
  • Experience conducting investigations involving energy, telecommunications, or water service.
  • Experience using a customer relationship management system.
  • College degree (Associates or Bachelors).

EXPECTED DUTIES/TASKS:

  • Duties and responsibilities include monitoring the compliance of Federal and State rules and regulations for Federal grant awards and assisting with contract closeouts.
  • Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: 
    • Track receipt of required documentation and follow-up with internal fiscal staff and providers as necessary; 
    • Review provider submitted financial reports for accuracy and fidelity to approved budget/award; 
    • Work with agency fiscal staff and providers as necessary to resolve discrepancies in claims; 
    • Identify problem areas and trends and develop solutions; 
    • Assist in special studies with relation to fiscal internal controls and processes;
    • Prepare fiscal summary reports and analyses for OMH fiscal staff;
    • Work with agency finance staff to track and monitor expenditures and status of grant awards to ensure that funds are used efficiently, effectively, and in accordance with federal fiscal guidelines; 
    • Assist agency finance staff with contract reviews to ensure proper documentation is received prior to contract execution;
    •  Assist Contracts team with claim reviews using financial system generated control points for of annual direct contract closeouts.
    • Assist Contracts team with encumbrance related assignments for Direct Contracts on a quarterly basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, economics, finance, public administration, or a related field or equivalent in education and experience;

AND

Two years of professional experience in the field of accounting, auditing, finance, economic, fiscal or statistical research; policy analysis; or quantitative, business, market or financial analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience with federal grant regulations
  • Prior experience with federal grant claims and reimbursements
